OK Financial Group reaches the championship game after eight years.
OK Financial Group swept the second round of the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League playoffs against Woori Card in straight sets 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-19) at Sangryoksu Gymnasium in Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, on May 25.
With the victory, OK Financial Group secured its third consecutive ‘Spring Volleyball’ championship by taking down the first and second games of the PO following the single-elimination semifinals. This is the first time in eight seasons since the 2015-2016 season that OK Financial Group 스포츠토토사이트 has reached the championship game.
Founded in 2013, OK Financial Group finished second in the regular season in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 and won the championship both times.
The Woori Cards, on the other hand, finished the spring volleyball season in vain after losing the league lead at the end of the regular season and failing to win a single game in the postseason.
OK Financial Group suffocated Woori Card with 10 consecutive points at 13-13 in the first set. With the 10 consecutive serves, outside hitter Bayarsaihan Vasu (real name Bayarsaihan) broke the men’s postseason record for most consecutive serves in a match. The previous record was eight in a row.
At 21-13, Bayarsaihan celebrated his record with an ace into the left corner on his eighth consecutive serve. During the 10-straight points, middle blocker Jin Sang-heon contributed four points, including two blocks.
Woori Card managed to break the streak with a back attack from Kim Ji-han, but it wasn’t enough to change the momentum.
OK Financial Group was no slouch in the second set. After a quiet first set, Shin Jung-jin came alive with five points (83.33 percent attack success rate), showing off the power of her left-handed apogee spiker.
OK Financial Group took an early 6-1 lead thanks to Song Hee-chae’s back row attack, Bayarsaihan’s blocking, and three Woori Card attack errors. In the next 8-4 run, the team scored three and four consecutive points to extend the lead to 15-5.
OK Financial Group saved set point at 23-14 on a block by Jin Sang-heon, and Woori Card took the 25th point on a service error by Han Tae-joon.
Woori Card started the third set with four straight points from Kim Ji-han, but it was to no avail. OK Financial Group quickly evened the score at 8-8, showing off their even distribution of scorers, and once again Bayarsaihan was the savior as she had been in the first set.
At 15-14, Bayarsayhan scored a fast-break point to take serve, and after a follow-up attack from Leonardo Leyva Martinez (real name Leo), he served two consecutive service aces to give his team a 19-14 lead.
Bayarsayhan also saved match point with a block. The third set ended 25-19.
In addition to Bayarsaihan (13 points), who had four service aces and three blocks, and Jin Sang-heon (9 points), who had four blocks, OK Financial Group had an evenly matched performance from Leo (12 points), Shin Shin-jin (9 points), and Song Hee-chae (8 points). For Woori Card, only Kim Ji-han (12 points) and Song Myung-geun (11 points) scored in double figures.
The championship first round will be held at the Incheon Gyeyang Gymnasium on Nov. 29 for Korean Air, which finished first in the regular season.
