The ‘2024 Children’s Day Commemorative Main Stadium Opening Event – Suwon World Cup Amusement Park’ organized by the Suwon World Cup Stadium Management Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) in Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi-do, concluded with great success on Friday.
Despite the heavy rain that day, more than 5,000 people visited the stadium and enjoyed the natural grass field of Suwon World Cup Stadium, which is open only one day a year.
The Foundation made every effort to ensure a safe event, including relocating some programs indoors, 홀덤 such as the air bounce and horseback riding.
The event started with a screening of the Pororo movie version on the big screen, followed by a kids’ magic show, a bubble show, a performance by the 51st Division Military Band, and a performance by singer Ryu Won-jeong, a former singer of “Active Duty King.” The Pororo movie version parade, a Super Jack musical in collaboration with animation production company OCON, a 6-meter-tall Super Jack photo booth, and a photo booth with character sculptures attracted a lot of attention from children.
In addition, the social message of ‘safety and health’ was also conveyed through sports experiences, horseback riding experiences, and fire safety experiences with participation from organizations and companies in Gyeonggi-do and Suwon.
In particular, in the center of the field, Korean soccer goalkeeping legend Lee Woon-jae made a surprise appearance, and two teams from three generations of families in Gyeonggi-do, Gyeonggi-do mascot Bonggong-i, Suwon Samsung Bluewings mascot Aguileon, and characters from the Pororo movie, staged a penalty shootout.
“We considered canceling the event due to the rainy weather forecast, but we went ahead as scheduled because we thought that many people would have been waiting for the opening of the main stadium, which is only one day a year,” said Lee Min-ju, Secretary General of the Foundation. “Fortunately, our concerns turned to joy when we saw the children playing in the rain. We hope that the future sprouts will keep the good memories of this day, where children were the main characters.”
