South Korean women’s speedskating’s “sprinting sensation” Kim Min-sun (24, Government Complex) won back-to-back podium medals at the second edition of the 2023-2024 International Ice Skating Union (ISU) World Cup.

Kim clocked 37.85 seconds in the second race of the women’s 500-meter Division A (first leg) on Monday in Beijing, China, to win the silver medal by 0.31 seconds over Erin Jackson (USA-37.54).

Kim, who won her first medal of the season after finishing third in the first race of the 500 meters in 38.00 on Sept. 17, took home a silver on Sunday, giving her two medals at the two-day event.

Kim, who switched skating shoes ahead of the season, failed to win a medal in the first competition, but proved that she is adapting well to the new boots by winning two medals in the second competition.

Competing against Beijing 2022 1,000-meter silver medalist Utta Leerdam (NED) in heat eight of the day, Kim picked up the pace after covering the first 100 meters in 10.64 seconds to cross the line first.

Leirdam clocked 37.88 to take the bronze medal behind Kim.

Her teammate Inahyun (Noh Won-go) finished last among the 20 athletes in 39.85. 토토사이트
